What does a public health department do?
Public health treats populations. As a public health department our aim is to improve and prevent poor health outcomes for those living in Crook County. In order to meet our goals, we utilize the public health model:
- Assessment - Monitor the health of the community and prioritize community health issues;
- Policy Development - Inform and educate partners and key stakeholders on priority health issue to build support and movement towards developing policy or systems that will influence population health; and
- Assurance - Ensure the policy and systems created are sustainable, effective, and enforced.

Crook County Health Department 2016-2020 Strategic Plan - We are currently working on our department's 2020-2025 strategic plan. The strategic plan outlines our health priorities and the progress our team is making to improve health outcomes and lower health disparities.
Crook County Quality Improvement Plan - Our quality improvement team is currently working on updating our quality improvement plan in order to ensure our organization has clear goals and processes for quality improvement that all staff contribute to.

Central Oregon Regional Health Improvement Plan
The objectives outlined in the 2020-2023 Regional Health Improvement Plan (RHIP) were created using the knowledge gained from the 2019 Central Oregon Regional Assessment. Partners from across Central Oregon came together to create six workgroups that are currently working on addressing the problems outlined in the RHIP. The workgroups are open to the public.
