Juniper Canyon

Background

Crook County is growing and development in Juniper Canyon is growing too.  It’s hard to believe that more than 2,000 households use Juniper Canyon Road to get to school, work, and shopping.
Additional lands in the Juniper Canyon area could support another 2,000 houses and we expect increased traffic as a result.
The County has land for a new road but doesn’t have the money to build it.  The County went to the state and federal governments to see if road money is available, but there are a lot of projects in line ahead of this one.  Money may not be available for 5-10 years and even then won’t cover the entire project cost.
Some of the partners and guiding documents the County is working with are Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), the Crook County Transportation Plan (TSP), Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council (COIC), and the City of Prineville Transportation Plan (TSP).
