The Crook County Transportation System Plan (TSP) is a plan to guide the County’s future transportation system.

Crook County’s last TSP was last updated in 2018, but significant growth in Central Oregon and its impact on the area’s transportation network has resulted in new challenges not anticipated in the previous plan. This growth has revealed a need for improved roadway safety, increased emergency access, and enhanced mobility throughout the county. The TSP update will plan for investments to manage the effects of growth, support residents and visitors, and grow local businesses.

The TSP is a planning project led by Crook County to address the current and future needs of the County’s residents and visitors and will cover all unincorporated areas (the areas outside of cities) of the County.

What Will The Plan Do?

The Crook County TSP is a long-range plan that will guide investments for the next 20 years. The TSP will include a prioritized list of projects, programs, and policy updates for us to begin implementing after the plan is adopted by the Crook County Court. The plan will also support neighboring communities’ plans, such as the Prineville TSP, to coordinate planning throughout the region.

To do this, we will talk with community members living and working in Crook County to make sure we choose projects that make it easier and safer for everyone to get around – no matter if you drive, walk, bike, roll, ride transit, or deliver freight within the County.

We will also look at information about what exists today to understand transportation needs in the community. This information combined with you feedback will help us develop potential solutions to meet the most pressing needs. For example, solutions may include improving traffic safety, expanding sidewalks and crosswalks, adding bike routes, constructing curb ramps at intersections, modernizing roads in poor condition, and increasing emergency vehicle access to developing communities.

Finally, the Crook County TSP will provide a roadmap for funding and building projects based on your priorities. The final plan will contain a prioritized list of improvements that we can build over time as funding becomes available.
