Statewide Wildfire Hazard Map

Public input on draft wildfire hazard maps encouraged!

Drafts of updated wildfire hazard and wildland-urban interface maps are available for review and public comment. There are three virtual public hearings coming up regarding the wildfire risk map.  The official draft map can be seen by following this link: Wildfire Risk Explorer.

Information Regarding Upcoming Public Hearings:

Public hearings are scheduled July 31st and August 1st to gather feedback on a rules package establishing the contested case appeals process, designating properties in wildfire hazard zones, and identifying the wildland-urban interface, as required by Senate Bill 762 (2021) and Senate Bill 80 (2023).

ODF will be accepting public comment from July 18th to August 18th. When the comment period is complete, ODF and OSU will evaluate all public comment to see whether changes to the maps are warranted.

How to Submit Public Comments?

1. Public comment can be sent by email to: hazardmap@odf.oregon.gov
2. Comments can also be sent to the Crook County Community Development Department.
3. Comments can be made at any of the virtual public meetings.

What is the Wildfire Hazard Map's Purpose?

1. Educate Oregon residents and property owners about the level of hazard where they live.
2. Assist in prioritizing fire adaptation and mitigation resources for the most vulnerable locations.
3. Identify where defensible space standards and home hardening codes will apply.
