Secure Your Load
CROOK COUNTY REQUIRES ALL LOADS TO BE SECURED
County Ordinance 8.04.020
Transporting Refuse
Any person who shall carry or haul any refuse on the highways or roads within Crook County or to a refuse dump or landfill shall protect such refuse from wind or rain, and load it in a manner so that none of it shall drop or spill, and shall provide his vehicle carrying such refuse with a suitable cover securely fastened, or the load sufficiently bound so as to prevent the scattering or dropping of the refuse from the vehicle.
Crook County Landfill imposes a $10.00 fine per load for unsecured vehicles. You may also be subjected to a much larger fine by local law enforcement.
Some questions to ask yourself:
Is there a chance of debris falling out of my vehicle?
Would I feel safe if I were following MY own vehicle?
Would I want MY loaded vehicle driving through MY neighborhood?
Do I need to drive slower than I normally do?
Is my load secured on the bottom, sides, AND top?
WHEN IN DOUBT TARP YOUR LOAD!
