Board of Property Tax Appeals
In Oregon, property values may be appealed to the Board of Property Tax Appeals (BOPTA) as prescribed by Oregon law beginning each year the day after tax statements are mailed.

Your petition must be postmarked or delivered to the Crook County Clerk’s office by
FILING DEADLINE: December 31, 2019
When filing your petition with the County Clerk’s office, please submit the following:
- 1 original and 5 copies of the petition and all evidence your appeal is based upon.
ORS 205.320(1) allows county clerks to charge $5 per page to file documents but we do not charge and instead ask that you make the copies to help defray our costs in processing petitions.
A tentative timeframe for hearings will be early March and you will be notified by mail of your hearing date and time approximately 2 weeks in advance.
Please check your petition and make sure it is filled out completely and accurately or your petition will be found defective and returned to you for correction and/or completion. If you receive a defective notice, you will have 20 days to correct the errors or omissions. If it is not received in the County Clerk’s Office by the defective deadline date, the petition will not be considered filed and will be dismissed.
