WHAT IT IS
The Summer Reading Program is Crook County Library's flagship literacy program for all ages. From June 1 to August 1, we will be bringing free events, free books, and more to Prineville and the greater Crook County community.

HOW YOU DO IT
Registration for the 2017 Summer Reading Program will open at midnight on Thursday, June 1 and will close at 11:59 PM on Friday, June 30. Registered participants will receive a reading log; children and teens will also receive a free book just for signing up!

Track your reading using the reading log.
You can pick your reading log up at the library. Children, teens, and adults have different reading goals. (BTW, we're not picky about how you read.  Audiobooks, e-books, comics, blogs, unusually long-winded cereal boxes - all of it counts)

Participants who meet their reading goals will be entered for a chance to win a Grand Prize. Participants who meet additional goals will get additional Grand Prize drawing tickets.

We will also be holding free events for children, teens, and adults all the way through June and July. You do not have to register for the reading log portion of the Summer Reading Program to attend events (but it wouldn't hurt).

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
The Summer Reading Program encourages Crook County residents of all ages to read for pleasure and to use library resources during the summer. For children and teens, a casual, regular reading habit is critical for maintaining and building literacy skills, especially when school is not in session. Kids also benefit from seeing the adults in their lives reading for fun!
