For questions relating to assessment information and potential errors please contact the Assessor's Department. For questions regarding the design and functionality of this application please contact the GIS Dept. Account information changes are made daily by the Assessor's office. After logging in with a valid user name and password you are presented with four choices to help search for information: account number; tax lot; Owner's Name; Subdivision. See below for an explanation of each choice: Initial Search Choices 1. Search by County Assessor's Tax Account Number: There are two choices, both require input of the Account Number. If the account number is entered in the first entry box (a) you will receive detailed information for that account and any other accounts associated with the tax lot. In many cases there is more than account associated with a Department of Revenue tax lot and this option allows you to obtain information on all these accounts in the same report. If the account number is entered in the second entry box (b) you will receive detailed information for that single account even if there are other accounts associated with the tax lot. This is particularly useful if there are many accounts associated with a tax lot e.g. a Trailer Park 2. Search by Department of Revenue Tax Lot Number: This requires a valid tax lot number to be entered via the drop down boxes. A valid tax lot number contains 13 characters in the following order (Note: if you don't know your map and tax lot number use the online mapping system to locate the property or inquire with the Assessor's department 541-447-4133): Township (S) = 2 characters e.g. 14 Range (E) = 2 characters e.g. 15 Section (1-36) = 2 characters. For section five, 05 is entered; For section 15, 15 is entered; when the property is located on an index map and no section is indicated 00 is entered. Quarter and Quarter-Quarter Sections (A-D) = 2 characters. If the property is on a Quarter Section map and zero is placed after the letter e.g. A0; If the property is on a Quarter-Quarter Section map and two letters are added e.g. AD; If the property is placed on a larger scale map, 00 is entered. Tax lot = 5 characters, however the system automatically adds zeros for you. If the tax lot is 101 that's all you have to enter. The default value for the Maptaxlot number is the Crook County Courthouse 151605BB08100. We also offer the opportunity to search by partial Maptaxlot number. This is very similar to the above search option, except that you are able to enter only part of the Maptaxlot number. This is useful if the entire Maptaxlot number is unknown. 3. Search by Owner: This requires the input of the owner's last name. If you are searching for "SMITH" you will get many results back to choose from. If you are unsure of the spelling of the name you can enter part of the name. From the results window you are presented with the owner, subdivision, Maptaxlot number, and the account number to help you narrow down the individual to investigate. Click on the ACCOUNT link if you want to receive information for an individual account associated with the tax lot. If you want all accounts associated with the tax lot choose the MAPTAXLOT link. 4. Search by Subdivision: From the drop down list choose the subdivision in question. From the results window you are presented with the lot, block, owner, Maptaxlot number, and the account number to help you narrow down the individual to investigate. Click on the ACCOUNT link if you want to receive information for an individual account associated with the tax lot. If you want all accounts associated with the tax lot choose the MAPTAXLOT link. 5. Search by Site Address: From the drop down list choose the road associated with the address, and enter the number if known. From the results window you are presented with the address and Maptaxlot number to help you narrow down the individual to investigate. If you want all accounts associated with the tax lot choose the MAPTAXLOT link. The address is tied to the Tax lot and not the account. 6. Search For Commercial, Improvement Only Accounts: These accounts are obtained from an independent system that can not be linked to the other Assessor's accounts. This search option allows the user to either search by account number or the business name (this is the name on the account for tax purposes). From the results window you are presented with the tax payer, and the account number to help you narrow down the individual to investigate. Click on the ACCOUNT link if you want to receive information for an individual account associated with the commercial property. 7. Search For Parent or Child Account: When a tax lot is split their is a parent (the original) and several new tax lots (children). Enter the account and press "Submit" to obtain information on the history / Tax lot lineage. This information has only become available since mid 2007 and will only show history since this time period. To Obtain the Detailed reports after the initial Search Choice: 1. Enter a valid map and tax lot number. A valid tax lot number contains 13 characters in the following order (Note: if you don't know your map and tax lot number use the online mapping system to locate the property or inquire with the Assessor's department 541-447-4133). 2. Select the information to include in your report. 3. Use the new shortcut buttons to 'Clear or Select all reports'. 4. Click the 'Submit' button to generate the selected reports. These steps will generate a brief report containing, by default, General Account and Site Address information. To add additional information to your report click on the Modify Search Results button. To map this property click on the Map This Property button. When you have finished click on the Print button to generate a custom report. 5. Click the "Permit Info" hyperlink for related permits. The link is found at the bottom of the page and will only be present if permits are associated with this tax lot. This link opens a separate application called "BuildFax Check". Once at the site click on the "download now" image in the lower right of the window to view the reports. 6. Click the 'Search Choice' button to return to the search menu. |

The County Assessor's Dept. began migrating to a brand new assessment and valuation software program in March 2007. Crook County is the lead county of four in the State of Oregon undergoing the same major system upgrade. Any issues directly effecting the Property Research Tool are shown below: Recent Updates - Commercial Personal Properties cannot be viewed at the moment. For information please contact the County Assessors at 541-447-4133. The GIS dept. will be building a search tool for these properties in the next few months. 12/07/07 Access to Permit Information - Permit information associated with a tax lot can now be viewed with the other reports (link at the bottom of the report). Currently it only shows Building Permits. Soon this will include all permits and Planning decisions. |
