The department’s Building Permit and Inspection Division reviews new construction and remodeling plans for buildings in unincorporated areas of the county and, by contract, in incorporated cities of Crook County which do not have their own building inspection programs. After inspecting building sites and plans, the division issues combined structural, plumbing and mechanical permits, which decreases paperwork for those seeking building permits. Last year, the division issued over 2,000 permits.
The department also assumed the Electrical Program from the State of Oregon Department of Building Codes Division in 2005. In addition to the Permit & Inspection Programs, the County's Compliance Program is administered through the Building Department as well.
