Brian Huber, Assessor

Directly responsible to the taxpayers of Crook County for the administration of the property tax system; oversees a staff of 7 and an annual budget of over $500,000.

Occupational Background

Brian was elected Assessor in November of 2014 and was sworn into office on January 5th, 2015; previously Brian had been appointed Assessor on January 1, 2013, was the Chief Appraiser from 2002-2012, a Residential Appraiser in the Assessor’s Office from 1999-2002 and a Fee Appraiser from  1990-1999.

Shaun Christofferson, Chief Appraiser

Responsible for the direct supervision of 3 appraisers, completes the annual ratio study, assists in the completion of the annual tax roll, gives estimates of future tax revenue to all of the taxing districts, coordinates all appeals for the local Board of Property Tax Appeals and the Oregon Tax Court, develops and maintains office and appraisal procedures for the appraisal staff, monitors all properties in the enterprise zone for compliance, completes farm disqualifications and places new values on the roll for all partitions and boundary line adjustments, handles omitted property and clerical errors, monitors new construction and reports to the Assessor and taxing districts each year regarding amounts of new construction.

Occupational Background

Employed as an appraiser with the Crook County Assessor’s Office since 2000. Previous to 2000 was employed as an appraiser with the Clark County Assessor’s Office in Washington. The 10 years prior to that include employment as a fee appraiser, Realtor, Title Company.
Jon Soliz- Farm, Forest & Residential Appraiser

Responsible for the appraisal of all farm, forest and rural residential properties in the county, updates and maintains non-EFU applications and questionnaires, completes annual farm study to establish specially assessed farm values throughout the county; monitors farm and forest properties for compliance with all applicable statutes regarding use and income requirements; responsible for all appeals and value inquiries in his assigned areas.

Linda Cross- Residential Appraiser

Responsible for appraising all residential property within the city limits of Prineville, all personal property manufactured homes and all of Powell Butte including Brasada Ranch, gathers and maintains cost information on a yearly basis and is responsible for all value inquiries and appeals in her assigned areas.

Occupational Background

Employed as an appraiser with Crook County Assessor’s Office since 2012; has a total of 10 years experience working as a Realtor in Crook County.
Sue McCaleb- Commercial, Industrial & Residential Appraiser

Responsible for appraising all of the commercial and industrial property throughout the county along with all residential property in the Juniper Canyon area, gathers and maintains cost and income information on a yearly basis and is responsible for all appeals and value inquiries in his assigned areas.

Occupational Background

Employed as an Appraiser with the Crook County Assessor’s Office since February, 2014.  Previous employment includes 6 years as an Appraiser with the Lane County Assessor’s Office, and 8 years of private appraisal practice.
Rebecca L. Ott- Chief Deputy

Responsible for the direct supervision of two clerks, prepares & certifies annual tax roll, prepares Sal tables and summary of assessment, maintains map changes, Dept of Forestry Fire Patrol, Miscellaneous & Veteran Exemptions, Personal Property assessment, Senior Deferral Program, Utility Roll, TCA & District Maintenance, Clerical Errors, Omitted Property, Farm Disqualification Calculation, Manufactured Structure transfer & permits, all other account maintenance & customer service.

Employed as a Clerk 3 2000-2003 for Crook County Assessor's Office; 2003 to present Crook County Chief Deputy; has over 5 years previous experience with AmeriTitle.
Shannon Alleman, Clerk II

Office reception and customer service, Ownership transfers, Manufacture Structure Transfers & Permits, Veterans Exemptions & Senior Deferral Program.

Occupational Background

Employed as a Clerk 2 with the Crook County Assessor’s Office since January 2014; previously employed at AmeriTitle for 3 years as an Escrow Officer and over 10 years of office experience with Sequent Computers and IBM.
Karen Bushnell, Clerk II

Duties include customer service, personal property valuation and audits, manufactured structure permits and transfers, veterans exemptions and the senior deferral program.

Occupational Background

Employed as a Clerk 2 with the Crook County Assessor’s office since February 2014; previously employed at AmeriTitle for 3 years specializing in title report preparation and deed recordings and 3 years of experience with Neighbor Impact in the housing department.
